About JEFFCO Community Playground

The Mission

The JEFFCO Community Playground in Steubenville, Ohio is a collaborative project of the City of Steubenville, Steubenville Parks & Recreation, and the Jefferson County Board of Developmental Disabilities. Together, we are committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive space where people of all abilities can play, connect, and thrive side by side. This playground will reflect our community’s shared belief that everyone deserves access to joyful play, meaningful connection, and a place where they truly belong.

The Vision

We envision the JEFFCO Community Playground as a vibrant, fully inclusive destination inspired by the historic Steuben Fort, where children and families of all abilities can explore, imagine, and play together. Rooted in the guiding principle of Building a Community of Belonging, this space will honor Steubenville’s rich history while shaping a future grounded in accessibility, connection, and shared joy. Through inclusive design and strong community partnership, the playground will be a place where no one is left out and everyone is welcomed to gather, grow, and experience the power of play together.
